Commandr Series FAQ
What is a Commandr?
A Commandr is a large-scale flexible foldable solar panel that can charge up both your large and small scale electronics. Through their portable (optional) converter boxes, they can charge tablets (5V), laptops (19V), and other larger devices (12V). What makes these solar panels different from others on the market is their patented flexible, durable design. You can drop them, kick them, and puncture* them and they will coninue to operate.
*Long term use is not recommended after a puncture or cut to your solar panel
What makes the Commandr solar panels so flexible and durable?
It is the CIGS solar technology they are made with. While most solar is placed on a glass substrate which makes the units heavy, rigid, and very breakable, CIGS solar has the ability to place solar on a plastic backing. This allows the panels to be flexible, lightweight, and quite rugged. And this technology is patented so only EnerPlex can produce these specific panels.
What can the Commandr Series charge?
The Commnadr Series of flexible solar panels can charge a variety of USB-enabled devices, 12V/19V devices, our Generatr Series of portable solar generators/power packs, and electronics that require a standard wall-outlet. Obvoiusly, the more panels that are exposed to the sun, the stronger the power. The Commandr can charge electronics at above a 1 Amp current.
Does the Commandr Series store a charge?
No, the Commandr Series solar panels are a direct, sun-to product charge. It will not hold or collect power for later. We recommend that you charge Generatr and Jumpr batteries with the Commandr solar chargers to collect a charge to power your electronics for later in the day, or when the sun is down. While Commandrs can charge devices directly with the (optional) converter box attached, we always recommend using the Generatr 100 & 1200 solar generators/power packs and Jumpr power banks as intermediary charger. Are Commandrs waterproof?
We would describe the Commandrs as weather-resistant. These solar panels and the USB ports have been built to resist water ingression, however we can not guarantee the products you plug in will be protected if the electronics get wet. If your Kickr does get wet, please let it dry before plugging in any devices.
