The Kickr IV USB-enabled portable solar charger is flexible, durable and lightweight. Other solar panels, such as monocrystalline panels, are placed on a glass backing, which makes the units extremely heavy, rigid, and fragile. Ascent Solar, who manufactures EnerPlex’s Kickr™ and Commandr™ portable solar chargers, uses patented CIGS solar technology to place solar on a plastic backing, allowing our solar products to be flexible, durable & lightweight. The EnerPlex Kickr™ IV portable solar chargers can charge a variety of USB-enabled devices, like cellphones, GPS devices, action cameras and other small electronic devices. When using the Kickr™ IV, we recommend angling the solar cells directly towards the sun to receive the fastest charge possible. Providing twice the output of our Kickr™ II & Kickr™ II+ solar chargers, the Kickr™ IV is one of the most popular products for backpackers, campers and travelers, as it charges devices almost as fast as a standard wall outlet. Lastly, Ascent Solar is one of the only companies who manufactures solar in the USA.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this solar panel!! Purchased along with the surfr s4 case. This solar panel is so amazing, I'm pretty active outdoors and use it a lot. I've attached it to my pack pack, kayak, laid out at the beach, my pool, I have even attached it to my kids stroller when we were at the zoo!!!! It's a really great product and I use it way more often then I thought I would.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great charge time I got the Kickr 4 to keep in my car for emergencies but took it out when my family went camping. It kept my gear (phone and digital camera) charged up for the entire 3 day trip

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations! After much research on various folding solar charging options, I decided to try out the Kickr IV. When it arrived I immediately put it through it's paces on an iPhone 5S, a USB powered battery charger charging 4 AA NiMH batteries and also on my SkyPro GPS module. Fantastic! This will be going with me where ever I go for EDC and rucking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect for your survival kit. During the winter blizzard we had this year my family lost power, I purchased this product 2 months ago and I didn't even think I was going to use it. But when we lost power during the storm we were all able to charge our phones.

Will it charge an iPhone or iPad in a bright room, but without direct sunlight?

Asked by: dasakasu
Thanks for your inquiry! The Kickr IV is designed to be used outside in bright sunlight. Some power may be relayed via the solar panels if used indoors, however, it will be a very small amount and may not be enough for some electronics to recognize it or to provide a useful charge.

So I've had this product for awhile now, I would use it when I do my military training to keep my phone charged. It's been put away and I attempted to use it again. It is not working. Any possible way to figure out as to why it is not working?

Will it automatically resume charging after it has been shaded and unshaded?

Asked by: sandm
For the most part, yes! However, Apple devices may give an "unsupported accessory" error when the voltage drops and will not automatically resume unless you unplug and replug in the device. Our Kickr IV+ has an integrated battery designed specifically for this situation. The battery kicks in whenever the voltage dips (assuming the integrated battery is charged), and turns off when sunlight comes back, allowing the solar panel to take over.

Will the Kicker IV charge in bright ambient light (cloudy day outdoors) or does it need direct sunlight.

Asked by: Wade
Our Kickr IV will absolutely work in ambient sunlight! However, please note that the voltage will be reduced, which means charging time for devices will be longer and some devices (such as Apple devices) may give an error.

I have this product, after it was slightly splashed by a bit of rain water (not submerged in water), it stopped working. What can be done? I was so disappointed as the panel was very new then. Pls also explain the difference between this and the IV+

Asked by: Suki
The panels themselves will not be damaged by water. However, if there are electronics plugged in to the junction box while it's wet, either the junction box or electronics plugged in to it could short out. Aside from design differences (binder-style folding with pockets inside), the Kickr IV+ has an integrated battery to ensure uninterrupted power should the panel become momentarily shaded.

Could the Kickr IV charge a car battery if left over a day or two in direct sunlight?

Asked by: gratts
The Kickr only puts out 5 volts and will charge most cell phones and tablets that use a USB connector. A car battery requires about 13-14 volts for charging.
